"My Dad and I are 18 years old" is based on singing and dancing, an intangible culture in Chaoshan. It tells the story that there is a contradiction between Lin Jiaxu and Lin Zihao because of an English song team. From the beginning, they don’t understand each other, and finally they understand each other and work together to carry forward the English song team. Father Lin Jiaxu’s sense of responsibility and persistence to the English singing team, and son Lin Zihao’s resentment to the English singing team, two emotions constantly collide and merge in a crossing, and finally interweave into a magnificent singing and dancing.

The sound of gongs and drums, long snake dance, colorful faces, colorful clothes, changing formations and ever-changing dance steps … "My Dad and I are 18 years old" will present singing and dancing’s dashing dance in the play. Chaoshan, as the main heritage of singing and dancing, is also the shooting place of this drama. From the field trip in the early stage to the actor training in the later stage, the crew spent a lot of time to deeply understand singing and dancing, an intangible culture, in order to restore the elegance of singing and dancing to the greatest extent and carry forward the charm of traditional folk culture.

In the rolling torrent of the times, some traditional folk cultures are facing the situation that no one inherits them, and in the end they can only become a page record in the history books. Under this background, My Dad and I are 18 years old focuses on the concept of cultural inheritance and cultural self-confidence. Focusing on the Chaoshan father and son, Lin Jiaxu and Lin Zihao, with the story of the life and death of an English singer team, we extend our discussion on where the declining traditional folk culture should go, and how the younger generation should explore the inheritance and development of traditional culture.

Nowadays, there are many singing and dancing teams in Chaoshan area, with members of all ages. The younger generation devoted themselves to the inheritance and development of singing and dancing out of recognition and love for the traditional culture of their hometown. My Dad and I are 18 years old, while presenting the elegant demeanor of singing and dancing, also shows that the younger generation inherits the indomitable spirit of the older generation. It is not only a letter from the father to his son, but also a confession letter from the former wave to the latter wave, and it is also a confession book left by the old times to the new era.

Here, people of different ages have different youth and different ideas. The world is unpredictable, and the only constant is the spirit of never giving up in the face of difficulties and going forward bravely, which is passed down through the bond of traditional culture.

At present, "My Dad and I are 18 years old" has officially started the intensive shooting schedule, and it is expected to meet the audience soon, so stay tuned!
